Social Networks: Facebook, MySpace and Twitter Used to Track Criminals
Looks like law enforcement officials are catching on to tech-savvy criminals. The Associated Press reports that more agents are using social media websites like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter to collect information believed to be useful for active criminal cases.
As a result, some websites have developed guidelines for law enforcement officials designed to explain how to obtain necessary information. MySpace’s chief security officer, Hemanshu Nigam, is quoted by the AP as saying that the site is not trying to impede investigations, but rather make sure their users’ privacy is protected.
