Privacy: AT&T Security Lapse Exposes over 100,000 3G iPad Users’ Emails

A weakness in security systems at AT&T resulted in the exposure of more than 100,000 3G user emails of Apple's popular device, iPad.  On Wednesday, AT&T acknowledged the exposure, after it had been remedied.  Goatse Security, AT&T's 'hacker group'  was able to obtain over 114,000 emails including those of media personalities and high-ranking government officials.  "We take customer privacy very seriously and while we have fixed this problem, we apologize to our customers who were impacted," an AT&T representative said in a statement.

The breach in security has raised many concerns, and prompted an FBI investigation and increased effort on behalf of the Federal Communications Commission to examine online security and privacy issues.

AT&T said it will contact all users who may have been impacted by the security breach.
