Cyberbullying: Chicago Schools Tackle Cyberbullying

Public schools throughout Chicago begin to enforce a new Student Code of Conduct this month which targets cyberbullying.  Under the latest rules, students who “send a threatening text, post a disparaging post on Facebook, or email a rudely altered picture to your classmates” face possible expulsion as well as police investigations.  These responses match what schools already do in the cases of other crimes, including burglary and aggravated assault.

School officials and local prosecutors in Dupage County have also teamed up to start an anti-bullying task force.   Their aim is to develop a plan to tackle cyberbullying issues before they actually begin.
